INTRODUCTION

Cityscape Detroit is a nonprofit group devoted to good urban planning, urban design, historic preservation, architecture, investment, green spaces, mass transit, interesting streetscapes, pedestrianism, human scale development, urbanism, and the "built environment" in Detroit.

Our built environment affects us daily, and by making the most of these things, we can make Detroit into one of America's great urban areas, a great place for residents to live, and a great place for others to visit.

Cityscape Detroit educates professionals and concerned residents about these subjects.

Cityscape Detroit creates a community and support for professionals and residents who are interested in these subjects in Detroit.

Cityscape Detroit advocates for the sake of a good city and for residents in general during government hearings, development processes, and when important decisions are being made.

Cityscape Detroit uses these subjects to draw additional professionals and people who are interested in them into Detroit.

WE WANT YOU! VOLUNTEER!

As an all volunteer nonprofit group, our life blood is energetic and committed people (and money). Cityscape is always looking for people with initiative and follow-through .  The officers of the group have traditionally been urban planners, architects, real estate developers, etc.  Many of the projects we do are composed of tasks you don't have to be a "built environment" professional, however, to do.  For example, putting up posters for an upcoming event in businesses in Midtown Detroit, researching online, or entering names into a spreadsheet.  We also need help from people in other areas like fundraising and public relations.

If you care about Detroit, architecture, urban design, preservation, great cities, and/or making the world a better place, and want to learn more about these things, get in touch with us.  Again, we are looking for three types of people:
  1. "Built environment" profesionals who can volunteer a couple of hours a month to Cityscape business
  2. Built environment professional, regular people or students who want to help but want to make a smaller committment
  3. Fundraisers, graphic designers, public relations/advertising, webmasters, and lawyers who can volunteer their expertise to help The Cause.
Volunteering time can earn you a paid membership.  Fill out the "form."
